Lunenburg West covers 955 square kilometers of the South Shore of NS. This electoral district is home to over 16,000 voters. It includes the town of Bridgewater, as well as the communities along the west side of the LaHave River and spans both sides of Highway 103. The area is well known for it's abundance of lakes. On the Atlantic Ocean it encompasses the popular summer destinations of Crescent Beach, Rissers Beach, Green Bay and Cherry Hill Beach. Broad Cove and Voglers Cove are popular locations for surfing Atlantic coast waves.
Bridgewater is the commercial hub of Lunenburg County. The Nova Scotia Community College offers a wide range of programs at it's Lunenburg Campus, located in Bridgewater. Government offices, a call centre and Michelin are major employers. It is the only community in Lunenburg County that offers public transportation.
In 2012, the provincial electoral district boundaries were redrawn and Lunenburg West expanded westward to gain the remainder of Lunenburg County from the former district of Queens.
